DAILYKENN.com --Joan Joyi, age 80s, was fatally strangled during a home invasion in Paarl in the Western Cape, South Africa, a report says

The crime was allegedly committed on December 2, 2020.

The report says Joyi allowed two males into her home. Once inside, they bound both Joyi and her caregiver. The suspects looted the house, then strangled the elderly victim to death as her caregiver watched.

The reports say Joyi knew the two males which may explain why she allowed them into her home. They may have killed her to prevent her from later identifying them.

The incident was not verified by corroborating news sources.

On Wednesday 2 December 2020 at around 10 PM, Joan Joyi (nee Carolissen) in her eighties was assaulted and killed in her Charleston Hill house in Paarl in the Western Cape.

According to information from a close family member, Joan let two men who were apparently known to her into the house. She and her caregiver were overpowered and tied up, after which the suspects looted the house in search of valuables.

Joan was then strangled to death with a rope in front of her caregiver.

After the men fled, Joan’s caregiver managed to free herself and she contacted a security company for help.

Police are currently combing the crime scene for clues.
