DAILYKENN.com -- Nearly 41 years ago a 23-year-old baby-faced black male shot a white police officer. With the policeman wounded and on the ground, the shooter proceeded to pump five more bullets in his victim's head.
For that, Vincent Martin was sentenced to death. After a successful appeal, the sentence was changed to life plus 29 years. Now, the 64-year-old Martin has been granted parole and is expected to be set free.
His victim, Michael Connors, was also 23 years old.
The crime occurred in Richmond, Virginia on November 13, 1979 after Martin and a group of accomplices were fleeing a 7-Eleven they had robbed.
