That seemed to be the message from students at a Missouri high school after a handful of students display small rainbow flags, symbols intended to normalize homosexuality. Another group of students at West Plains High School responded by hoisting a Confederate flag in school cafeteria.
Faced with a paradox of conflicting values, the administration opted to remove the flags and chalk up the episode as "a learning experience." No punishments were meted out to either side.
