Police were serving a warrant related to narcotics in the 3700 block of North 15th Street when the suspect opened fire at about 4:30 p.m., according to police. Six officers were wounded in the ensuing shootout, though none with life-threatening injuries, according to the Philadelphia police commissioner.
The incident continued well into the night as the alleged gunman, 36-year-old Maurice Hill, barricaded himself in a residence. He surrendered shortly after midnight.
