DAILYKENN.com -- The poem that graces the Statue of Liberty was penned at a time when Europe was white and structured in a class system. The poem etched on the monument was meant to welcome members of Europe's oppressed classes. That is the apparent opinion of Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Cuccinelli expressed his opinion the day after President Donald Trump's administration "announced it would seek to deny green cards to migrants who seek Medicaid, food stamps, housing vouchers or other forms of public assistance."
