DAILYKENN.com -- Carlie Beaudin is dead. The 33-year-old white nurse practitioner and talented vocalist was found frozen to the pavement, pinned under a vehicle in a hospital parking garage.
Arrested for her murder is a 27-year-old black male, Kenneth Freeman.
Security cameras were rolling when Freeman allegedly tackled and repeatedly kicked Beaudin. Apparently, no one was watching the monitors. Beaudin was found by a snow plow driver who was unable to reach security by intercom. Apparently, no one was listening. The driver contacted his boss who, in turn, managed to reach hospital security, sources say. [source]
We don't know if the security workers were black, white, or some other ethnicity. We don't know if the security video feed and intercom were not monitored, or if security workers simply chose to ignore the incident because the victim was white and the attacker was black.
Beaudin was alive when emergency personnel finally arrived about two hours after the attack. Authorities allege that Freeman was recorded on hospital security cameras tackling then stomping Beaudin's head and neck 40 times. [source]
She may have survived had security monitored their CCTV and promptly contacted authorities.
Freeman was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He was released from police custody just hours before the attack, a district attorney spokesman said. He previously worked at the hospital as a valet.
Freeman was stunned by police during after an outburst in court during his preliminary hearing. Feigning mental illness is a ploy sometimes used to elicit sympathy or establish mental illness. Freeman may not have been feigning the outburst. [source]
