DAILYKENN.com -- The study was performed by the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, the Centre for Human Reproduction in New York and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.


Scientists are pressing to create the perfect humans, it appears.

HUMAN eggs have been grown in a lab for the first time – but social media users aren’t all speaking out in support of the major scientific breakthrough.

Scientists hope this is a huge development in improving fertility treatment for women.

They removed egg cells from ovary tissue at their earliest stage of development and grew them to the point at which they were ready for fertilisation, according to the study published in Molecular Human Reproduction.

But the public aren’t all applauding this breakthrough.

Some are more worried about the potential dangers for humans and whether we should use this new power.

One wrote on Twitter: “This is the most unethical thing to happen to humankind. The dangers are legion. If you’re not afraid, you should be.”

Another said: “So we’re growing people now??”

While others have clearly been watching too many films – equating the medical success with the popular dinosaur franchise.
