DAILYKENN.com -- Unarmed 19-year-old Zachary Hammond was fatally shot in the back by a police officer during a traffic stop, reports say.
The victim was on his first date when police pulled him over. His date was eating ice cream when Hammond was killed.
An attorney representing the victim's family complained that "the media and our government officials have treated the death of an unarmed white teenager differently than they would have if this were a death of an unarmed black teen," according to The Washington Post.
The Post article noted that 25 percent of persons shot by police were blacks who represent 13 percent of the population. The report failed to mention Dept. of Justice statistics that reveals 52.2 of homicides in the United States were committed by blacks.
The shooting occurred in Seneca, SC. The officer who shot Hammond was not charged.
The shooting occurred in 2015.
