March 3, 2016 -- Political correctness has become the official policy of many Western nations. Britain is no exception and may, in fact, be one of the worst offenders. 

Hiring on the basis of gender is out of the question. Because occupations such as paperboy, handyman, and barmaid implicitly suggest gender bias, they cannot be mentioned in employment advertising. 

It's nuts.

In my humble opinion, freedom of association trumps so-called civil rights. An employer should have the freedom to hire whomever he (or she) desires without fear of government reprisal. 

The Marxist doctrine of equality has not only displaced the freedom of employers; it's replaced common sense. 

When I was a kid there existed a McDonalds-like restaurant chain called Burger Chef. The company exclusively hired teen boys in keeping with the mindset that chefs tend to be males. Likewise, some restaurants and bars prefer to hire female workers to enhance their decorum. 

While an argument could be made against gender bias in government hiring (such as mailmen), non-government enterprises should have the freedom to  hire individuals based  upon the employer's whims, not the government's mandates.

Advertising for a Polish builder or a barmaid could land businesses in hot water after new guidance was published barring employers from trying to hire someone based on their sex, age of nationality.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has warned businesses that they could be breaking the law should they ask for any particular characteristics in a job advert that would stop certain groups from applying.

An example of a breach, according to the public body, would be for bank advertisement specifying that a permanent address is required, as it might discriminate against Syrian asylum seekers who cannot open a bank account.
