December 8, 2014 -- 71-year-old Paul Birdsall died about two months after he was allegedly assaulted by Evelyn Goldsmith.

News reports say Goldsmith held Birdsall against his will for about twelve days during which time he was repeatedly assaulted.

Prior to his death, Birdsall informed police that Goldsmith forced him to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash for her.

The crime occurred between Sept. 25 and Oct. 6, 2014.

Birdsall's death was reported December 8, 2014. The crime occurred in Oklahoma City, Okla.

More than two months after allegedly being assaulted and held against his will for about a dozen days, an Oklahoma City man has died due to his injuries from the ordeal, Oklahoma City police reported Monday morning.

Between Sept. 25 and Oct. 6, Paul Birdsall, 71, was allegedly held hostage in his home by Evelyn Goldsmith, 40, police said. Police are seeking Goldsmith, a transient, in connection with the death.

Birdsall told police that during this period of time Goldsmith forced him to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash for her.

He also told police that Goldsmith assaulted him numerous times.
