I don't know what you were doing on Sept. 25, 1996, but Ms. Garner was going through hell in her own apartment.
This, my friends, is why I despise the pretense of 'white privilege' to excuse violent black-on-white crime.
Arrested for the violent crime was Robert Ladd. Now 57 years old, Ladd is scheduled to be executed in three days.
"At the time of the slaying, Ladd was on parole after pleading guilty to murdering three people in Dallas in 1978. He served 13 years in prison for the crime," KTLA reports.
When will we learn that truth-telling is not racism and facing reality is not a hate crime.
An execution date has been set for a man convicted in the 1996 murder of a Tyler woman.
Robert Ladd, 57, is scheduled to be executed Jan. 29, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Police say that on Sept. 25, 1996, Ladd robbed and murdered 38-year-old Vicki Ann Garner in her Tyler apartment. Garner was beaten to death with a hammer and her body set on fire. Prior to her death, her legs and wrists were bound by a cord. Several items were stolen from her home, including electronic items, kitchen appliances, jewelry and food, according to TDCJ records.
Ladd has been awaiting execution since 2003, when he was granted a last-minute stay by claiming he was mentally impaired. A federal appeals court rejected that claim in April.
