Her killer, Peter G. Jones, was convicted Friday of first degree murder.
Schaufele, who lived north of Detroit, was killed in a home invasion during which Jones took valuables with the intent of raising cash to purchase drugs.
Schaufele was killed by strangulation and a stab wound to the neck. Reports say the murder took about four to five minutes during which time the victim obviously suffered greatly.
Jones has an extended criminal record and was currently free from prison on parole, compliments of Eric Holder's perverted doctrine of disparate impact.

Jones faces mandatory life in prison after being convicted of first-degree felony murder and first-degree murder in the death of 84-year-old Bernice Schaufele in her condo. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 14.
“Although I know this verdict does not lessen the suffering endured by Mrs. Schaufele’s family, I hope the conviction brings them some peace,” said Novi Public Safety Chief David Molloy said in a statement. “Peter Jones is a career criminal with convictions in several states.”
Schaufele was living a happy life that January morning, looking forward to moving from her Novi condo to South Carolina to be closer to family.
