Sgt. Joseph Anderson, 31,
was shot and killed Wednesday (Jan. 1)
outside the Marrero home
of an in-law just moments
after dropping off
his three young children.
Joseph Anderson, 31, was shot dead by carjackers in the the New Orleans suburban city of Marrero.

The murder took place in the driveway of his in-laws. The U.S. Army Sergeant had just dropped his three kids off for the night and, as he returned to the Toyota 4-Runner, someone shot him in the head and stole the vehicle.

The murder took place at 9:45 p.m. and was the first homicide of the year for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

U.S. Army Sgt. Joseph Anderson, 12-year veteran, survived three tours of duty in Iraq.

The following is from his obituary.
Staff Sergeant Joseph Emmanuel Anderson passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the age of 31. He was a loving daddy to Joseph Anderson Jr. (age 12), Jamal Anderson (age 11), and Morgan Anderson (age 7). Son of David and Kathleen Anderson.
