The body of a 60-year-old white surgeon who specialized in general surgery and endoscopy has been found in a creek near Augusta, Georgia.

Dead is Dr. Charles Mann, III. 

Arrested for his murder is a black male, Glenn Vincent Riggs II.

Riggs, 22, was also charged with robbery.

The body of a missing doctor has been found and a suspect in the case is in the Richmond County jail facing several charges, including murder.

According to a statement released Sunday morning by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Glenn Vincent Riggs II, 22, is charged with murder and robbery by force in the death of Dr. Charles Mann III, 60.

Mann’s body was found Saturday in Spirit Creek at Willis Foreman Road, police said.

On Friday, his blue 2006 Honda Civic was found in a wooded area in the 3400 block of Old Louisville Road in Augusta.

Police said they believe Mann was killed at Riggs’ residence in the 2600 block of Dublin Drive. Riggs also had several outstanding misdemeanor warrants seeking his arrest.

According to police, Mann was last seen Thursday night in Barnwell, where he lives and works during the week. He returns to his family in Kathleen, Ga., on the weekends, they said. According to the Barnwell County hospital’s Web site, he is a specialist in general surgery and endoscopy.

The sheriff’s office said it would provide no other information at this time on Mann’s death.
