Lena Triano, 57 - bound, raped, beaten; murdered

52-year-old Carlton Franklin was tried in a juvenile court for a murder he committed nearly four decades ago. News reports indicate Franklin invaded the home of his Westfied, New Jersey neighbor, Lena Triano, where she was beaten, bound, raped and murdered. Franklin was 15 at the time. Triano was 57. The maximum sentence for a juvenile is 10 years, even if the convict is currently an adult. The killer was in prison for two decades serving time for kidnapping and robbery. He's since been employed as a truck driver. Franklin was convicted December 20, 2012.

Historians call it the 'Red Summer.'

It was 1919. White servicemen stationed in Washington, D.C. grew weary of black males raping white women in the city. The soldiers went on a rampage; a mission to teach black males a lesson: Don't assault white women. Revisionists suggest the violence was due to unemployment as white troops returning from the war competed with black males for jobs. Historians, however, know the truth.

What happened in Washington that year spread to more than three dozen cities. And they continued beyond 1919.

The most notorious of the riots was the Tulsa rampage in 1921. A black male trapped a young white women in an elevator and raped her. When residents demanded justice, a mob of armed blacks convened at the courthouse. Wearied with black-on-white violence -- particularly attacks targeting white women -- white men determined to purge their community of what they saw as a violent black menace. Much of the black community was burned to the ground.

These were white men whose minds had not been polluted by the brain-bending media nor diluted with white guilt. The novel, To Kill A Mocking Bird, had not been released.

Times have changed.

We've been satiated with white guilt. So intense is the brain cleansing that the mention of racial matters by whites is presumed to be racist. Meanwhile, the epidemic of blacks attacking white women remains and, while rioting may not be a valid response, at least we should acknowledge the phenomenon. And, no, it is not racist to do so.
