Louisa Putter, 58, was slashed repeatedly in the face by a black male who knocked her unconscious and left her tied with clothesline.

During the attack Putter managed to call her son, Peter, by depressing a speed dial button on her cell phone that was in her shirt pocket. Her son, who was out of town at the time, contacted a friend who lived in the Pretoria area.
A neighbor said he saw the attacker flee the scene by scaling a wall at the back of the victim's yard.
Putter was taken to the Bougainville Hospital where she was treated for her injuries. Her son said she was severely traumatized by the attack.
Police spokesperson, Agnes Huma, said the attack would be investigated as attempted murder. Putter had received several death threats by phone and by mail over the previous weeks.
Also last week a 77-year-old Pakistani man was killed during a robbery.
Shad Deen Mohammed was stabbed and beaten to death with a hammer after he told burglars he did not have a key to his safe. His wife and daughter were tied with ropes during the attack. His wife was was stabbed in the hand and his daughter choked.
The thieves managed to open the safe with hammers and screwdrivers and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry and cellphones. [source]
