MUST READ ► My Horrific Experience With A Psychopath

May 23, 2012

It appears Walter Williams is an avid reader of

The 76-year-old syndicated columnist is known for his conservative views, academic career and being black.

Williams writes a widely-read weekly column. This week's offering echoes many of the facts published on this web site. So many, in fact, that I'm concluding he's a loyal reader.

• Williams notes, for example, that about 7,000 black Americans are murdered each year. He's off a tad. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the average black homicide rate was 7,750 from 2001 through 2005. Adding earlier statistics raising the average annual black homicide rate to about 8,500.

• Williams notes that 50 percent of homicides are committed by blacks who comprise about 13 percent of the nation's population. Actually, the Department of Justice places the number at 52.2 percent. Williams failed to mention that nearly all black homicides are committed by black males age 18 to 49 who comprise about 3 percent of the population. Therefore, about half of all homicide are committed by about three percent of the population.

• Williams notes that 3,446 blacks were lynched at the hands of whites between 1882 and 1968. To say there were no black hands involved in any lynchings simply can't be verified. Williams did fail to note there were 1,297 whites lynched during that same period. Either way the mathematical conclsion is that more black-on-black homicides occur in six months than black lynchings occurred in 86 years.

•  Williams then goes where black men fear to tread: Black-on-white crime. Surely he reads my web site.

What I call "media censorship," Williams calls "concealment." He cites, for example, "the recent attacks on two Virginian-Pilot newspaper reporters set upon and beaten by a mob of young blacks. The story wasn't even covered by their own newspaper."

He also mentions the white tourist who was severely beaten, robbed and stripped in Baltimore while black throngs laughed, jeered and rolled video recordings. He makes mention of the black mobs that run amok throughout the nation targeting innocent white victims.

Williams also tipped black conservative, Thomas Sowell, quoting his observation that our nation is effectively engaged in race war.

The difference between my musings on black violence and those of Walter Williams is that I, alone, have been called a racist.

I've always found it amusing, even annoying, that white people who openly discus black-on-white crime are presumed racists. Whites who revisit history with an eye for honesty are also labeled racists.

Henry Louis Gates, Jr., for example, can note that black-owned slavery was common in the pre-Civil War South. When I write the same, I'm considered a bigot.

Black columnist Larry Elder refuses to shy away from black crime statistics. No one calls him a racist. When I openly discuss black crime, I'd dismissed as prejudice bumpkin.

There is a need for open discussion about race and crime . . . without the name calling.

Pat Buchanan published a best selling book describing the nasty toll multiculturalism is taking on America. His book earned him the racist label; a label he's already worn for years.
