DAILYKENN.com -- Rep. Peter King (R-NY) is calling for a dragnet-style surveillance of Muslims, similar to the action taken by the NYPD in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks. 

King met with Donald Trump and Mike Pence last week to discuss his strategy. Intense, permeating surveillance of American citizens began when the FBI infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the early 20th century with virtually no outcry from civil libertarians. That course of action set a precedence in which the federal government routinely bypasses the Fourth Amendment. The feds continue to permeate groups considered "extremists." Civil libertarians, however, tend to be selective when criticizing such strategies.
