DAILYKENN.com -- Cecilia Whiddon, a 50-year-old white woman, was fatally stabbed in Valdosta, Georgia.
Arrested for the crime is Robert Gamble.
A second white woman was also stabbed, but apparently survived.
The crimes occurred at the Big 7 Motel and was reported August 2, 2016.
About 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Valdosta Police officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the 1800 block of West Hill Avenue. They found two white women had been stabbed.
On Wednesday, VPD informed WALB that a white 50 year old woman, Cecilia Whiddon, from Valdosta, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to South Georgia Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Police are withholding the name of that victim.
Officers were told about a possible dispute between one of the victims and the offender who ran away. Detectives concluded that their suspect was Robert Gamble. They found him a couple of hours later in 100 block of East North Street and arrested him.
Gamble was transported to the Lowndes County Jail, and faces charges of : Felony Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Home Invasion in the 1st degree, and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony.
"I am very proud of the victim and witness who assisted us in this case and the responding officers, detectives, and the members of the District Attorney’s Office of the Southern District Circuit for working together on this case. The result of the teamwork was ensuring a dangerous offender was taken into custody very quickly before he hurt someone else," said VPD Chief Brian Childress.
