The U.S. Marshals are turning up the heat in the search for western New York fugitive Dominick Cruz, the alleged gunman in a deadly parking lot shooting in Tonawanda, New York, in January.
On January 10, authorities state Cruz, 39, allegedly shot 25-year-old Mark Sternin and 24-year-old Tyler Sadauskas during an altercation, killing Sternin and critically wounding Sadauskas. Authorities identified Cruz as the suspect, and tracked him to his place of employment two days later. Their plan to arrest Cruz failed when he learned of their arrival and escaped out of a side door.
Authorities believe Cruz may have fled the state a few weeks after the crime. He has ties in the cities of Buffalo and Rochester, New York, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Illinois, and the state of New Jersey, and possibly Puerto Rico, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.
Cruz has an extensive criminal history and is currently wanted by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office for murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. Police state that Cruz should be considered armed and dangerous.
The fugitive is a 5-foot-4 male of Puerto Rican decent weighing 140 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He also has numerous tattoos, including “ARC” on his ring finger, “DÉJÀ VU” on his stomach, and a cross and his mother’s name, “IYA WOCITA OYA” on his back.
