DAILYKENN.com -- A 27-year-old man was fatally shot by a black male for "no particular reason."
Reports say Joshua Harewood was killed when James Hightower, 36, apparently became irritated.
A woman present at the time of the murder was heard yelling, “Why did you do that? You didn’t have to do that.”
The victim was murdered behind a home in Dallas, Tex.
The crime was reported March 26, 2016.
Authorities have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of another man at a Dallas home.
James Hightower, 36, is charged with murder in the death of 27-year-old Joshua Harewood, who was slain early Wednesday behind a home on Lewiston Avenue.
DeSoto officers arrested Hightower after they were tipped off by an “observant citizen” who recognized him from media reports saying he was a wanted man, police said. Hightower was jailed early Saturday and is being held on $200,000 bail.
Police were called to the 2700 block of Lewiston around 2:30 Wednesday morning. Neighbors tried to perform CPR during the 911 call, but Harewood died at the scene.
Witnesses told investigators that Hightower lived in a trailer in the backyard of the home on Lewiston, and a woman who visited frequently was also there at the time of the shooting.
One witness said he heard Hightower yelling “Why did you do me like that” before several gunshots rang out. Another witness said he heard the woman yelling at Hightower during and after the shooting.
“Why did you do that?” she asked, according to police records. “You didn’t have to do that.”
The woman later told police that Harewood and Hightower were “hanging out” when Hightower became upset for no particular reason, pulled out a gun and shot Harewood several times. Hightower ran from the location and remains at large.
