DAILYKENN.com -- It's not the typical Hollywood ending in which the oppressed black man is falsely accused of murdering a white scoundrel.
In the real-life episode, 8-year-old Hannah wandered out of her apartment to a nearby construction site looking for help. Her mother had been brutally murder, suffering 18 stab wounds; the first blow to her head.
The victim was 30-year-old Melissa Huggins-Jones. The 2013 crime came full circle this week when her killer was found guilty.
The brutal murder occurred in the woman's Raleigh, NC apartment.
The victim was the mother of two children, including 8-year-old Hannah.
On the morning of May 14, 2013, Hannah wandered out of the apartment and approached a nearby construction crew, asking for help. A construction worker followed the girl back into the apartment and found Huggins-Jones dead in her bed, covered in blood.
On the night of the murder, Smith, Anthony and Sarah Redden, who is also charged in the case, admitted to breaking into cars around the North Hills area. — wral.com
