Investigators said they have made three arrests in the shooting death of a young Gilmer County father.

Joseph Ledford, of Jasper, Tyler Nunez, of Acworth, and Justin Heard, of Marietta, were arrested New Year’s Eve. They have all been charged with murder and armed robbery.

Deputies said Andrew Abernathy, 21, was shot and killed inside his home on Brook Hollow Circle around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Sheriff Stacey Nicholson initially said that it appeared Abernathy knew his shooter, but did not elaborate following the arrest of the three men.

Abernathy's fiancée, as well as two small children, were at the home at the time of the shooting.

Neighbors told FOX 5 News Abernathy's fiancée has been writing about the incident on social media. She posted that she and her small boys saw Abernathy killed.

All three men remain in jail. Sheriff Nicholson said more charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

  1. Additional charges? I'd be surprised if the "rape apes" hadn't acted according to genetic predisposition to "muhdick"the fiancée.
