A Grand Jury has indicted seven people in connection with the shooting death of a Winona man.
Adam Fort was shot to death October 18 at an apartment on the 1200 block of Gilmore Avenue in Winona.
In a news release Monday, Winona County Attorney Karin Sonneman named Kayla Clay, Richard Gordon Deppe and Cornelius Dunnigan as three of the seven people indicted in the case. They appeared in court Monday morning. Clay and Deppe were charged with aiding and abetting murder in the 1st and 2nd degrees, while Dunnigan and Deppe face charges of conspiracy to sell marijuana.
Lonnie Hudson, 23, was already charged in November with five felony counts, including second degree murder and firearms charges. Reginald Burnett, 18, was also charged with four felony counts including aiding and abetting second degree murder. Prosecutors requested a Grand Jury review the case, which is the only way to charge Hudson and Burnett in the first degree.
"Law enforcement did an extraordinary job in immediately investigating this case and determining that this was not a random incident," Sonneman said. "This is one of those things that you worry about, that you don't want to have these things happening in your community."
By the end of multiple days of testimony, the Grand Jury issued indictments against a total of seven people with a total of 28 charges. Clay, Deppe and Dunnigan remain in police custody. The four remaining suspects will appear in court Tuesday.
