DAILYKENN.com -- News media in Detroit are apparently refusing to report a vicious hate crime.

A person claiming to be the daughter of the victim launched a protest of sorts. She posted an image of her bruised, bloodied, and beaten mother on the Detroit's channel 4 Facebook page.

Cathi Pelletier Truscott‎ wrote:

The elderly especially need to be aware that they are being targeted. My mother was attacked in her garage middle of the day in CenterLine. She was coming home from running errands on Wednesday, Oct 28th and a man ran up the driveway and assaulted her as she got out of her car, punching her in the face, knocking her unconscious. He stole her purse and ring. Please spread the word that this is happening more and more often in CenterLine, Warren, and Sterling Hts.

WDIV Local 4 responded:

We are so sorry to hear about this. We would like to get more information from you. Can you please call Alison in the newsroom at 313-222-0500? Thank you.

Some comments attribute the attack to heroin. All comments we read apparently feared to cite the cause of the crime black-on-white racism. That may be due to the race of the attacker not being disclosed.

Black-on-white crime that targets the elderly is taboo in the United States. Those concerned enough to take note are promptly stereotyped with the "racist" or "white supremacist" pejorative.
