Metro police have arrested 18-year-old Quantarius Newsom in the Oct. 11 shooting death of a teenager in the parking lot of a public housing development on South 7th Street.
The incident happened at the James Cayce Homes, where Ian Patterson, 17, was shot while standing outside his car, according to police. Patterson of Chapmansboro was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.
Police said an investigation revealed that Patterson was robbed and shot after coming to the area to buy cocaine. Police also said Newsom admitted to his involvement in an interview with them.
Newsom was booked Thursday afternoon and is being held on $330,000 bond.
