Demont Daniels, 20, an apparent psychopath with no sense of empathy. The prosecutor in the case described Daniels as having "a thirst for extreme violence."
Tawonia Hudson, the convict's mother, said, "That's not my son."
She suggested that Demont is mentally ill and hadn't taken his meds when he attacked at least five people in the Cleveland area.

Jan. 9 – Daniels asked to use the bathroom of an acquaintance, Jeffrey Lee. When he came out of the bathroom, he pointed a gun at Lee and stole some money from him. During the sentencing, Lee told the judge that Daniels promised to give the money back.
Jan. 21 – Daniels and another man accosted Jessica Webster as she was walking into a bar in the Flats to play volleyball. They tried to steal her purse, and when she resisted, they pistol-whipped her to the ground. Webster needed seven staples to close a head wound.
Jan. 25 – Daniels and two other men entered the apartment of Angel Artale in East Cleveland. Artale ran a small store out of her apartment, but she said the men didn't take anything. Daniels, however, pulled a gun on Artale and shot her in the foot.
Jan. 26 – Daniels approached a boy and talked to him about the Heartless Felons gang. Prosecutors said the conversation didn't go as planned, and Daniels pistol-whipped the boy in the back of the head.
Jan. 26 – Daniels and some other men attempted to steal a car from Carl Klinger. Klinger handed over his keys and got to the ground, but the car wouldn't start. Prosecutors said the other men walked away, but Daniels returned and shot Klinger in the leg.
