Cornelius Pierneef, 31, and his fiance, Saran Christie, 21, were attacked when their Mpumalanga farm was the target of a home invasion.
Three intruders bound the couple and held them at gunpoint while they demanded their cash and firearms. Farmers in South Africa are commonly tortured by thugs, forcing them to open safes and surrender valuable. Often they are tortured simply for sport.
The robbers made off with cell phones, several firearms, and jewelry.
The previous day an elderly farm couple were similarly attacked with a hot iron. In that attack the thieves stole fire arms and R20 000 cash.
The crimes occurred Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, 2015.
• Earlier this month two black males were found guilty of murdering an elderly farmer in the same area. Sarel Janse van Rensburg‚ 75‚ was murdered in his home on September 18 2014. The thieves murdered Rensburg then broke into his safe, stealing firearms and valuables.

Not until the arrival of Dutch and English settlers did the area prosper, as the largely uninhabited land gave way to lush farms, high rises, and bustling freeways. Western technology not only provided advanced life enhancements to the areas aboriginal people, it attracted hordes of sub-Saharan Africans who overwhelmed the settlers and eventually took control of the nation.
