A 20-year-old Wynne man is behind bars in the Cross County Detention Center after police say he impregnated a 10-year-old girl. According to the Cross County Sheriff's Office website, Justin Roshud Smith was booked on three counts of rape and endangering the welfare of a minor.
He also faces a charge of failure to pay a fine. During his initial court appearance, bond was set at $500,000, according to a release from the Wynne Police Department.
Wynne Police were notified about a 10-year-old girl who was found to be pregnant while being treated at an area hospital. Officers, with assistance from the Arkansas
State Police Crimes Against Children Division, began investigating, which led to the arrest of Smith. If convicted, Smith could face a minimum of 25 years in prison.
