U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested Hector Rodolfo Rangel Gaytan from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico on an outstanding arrest warrant from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault.
“We at CBP Field Operations are always ready to assist our law enforcement partners in apprehending persons who have evaded capture and have outstanding arrest warrants,” said Acting Port Director Javier Cantu. “Our ability to utilize biometric verification enables our officers to identify individuals who may not possess a valid form of identification.”
On Aug. 17, CBP officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered Mr. Rangel Gaytan, a 22-year-old male Mexican citizen from Reynosa as he arrived at the pedestrian walkway. Rangel Gaytan advised the CBP officer that he had no entry documents and that he was turning himself in due to having a warrant for his arrest. Once inside secondary, biometric verification confirmed his identity and the arrest warrant from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony.
