Dawie Roodt suffered cut wounds inflicted by black males while protecting his adult daughter.
Reports say the four attackers accosted Roodt's daughter when she approached his home in a security estate in Pretoria, South Africa. Many white South Africans are forced to live in high-security, fortified homes.
The attackers forced the family into their home, bound them, and demanded cash. By indicating his money was in his car, Roodt managed to lure the attackers out of his home. Once outside, he was physically attacked. The attack occurred during a rolling blackout -- a daily occurrence in South Africa -- in which all electricity is abruptly shut off.
The attackers, who were also armed with a revolver, made off with cell phones and other high-priced electronic gadgets.
