DAILYKENN.com -- A California man was stabbed and beaten nearly to death when he attempted to stop a group of thugs from spray painting graffiti.

The attacked occurred Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif. and was captured on security video.

The victim's wife was helpless as she watched the group attack her 51-year-old husband.

Please report typos...

It was 9:45 p.m. Sunday evening and surveillance cameras were rolling on South Stinson Street.

And on the tape, a bloody and almost fatal beating was captured as four men brutally attacked and then stabbed a 51-year-old just because he had asked them to stop spray painting graffiti.

Sandra, the victim's wife, says she watched in horror as it happened.

First they hit him with a spray can bottle," she told me. "And then they stabbed him. I was mortified."

Her husband James, who's known in the neighborhood for recycling anything and everything, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

And today he can't feel his legs.

"He might be paralyzed," says Sandra in tears. "We're waiting to hear from the specialist."

The tagging crew got away, witnesses say, in a dark colored four door sedan. Possibly a newer model blue Nissan.

"They're a bunch of cowards," says Sandra. "A bunch of cowards."
