Reports say the victim had been beaten and stabbed in her Tyler, Texas home. She was then set afire while on her bed.
Why the reprieve?
Reports say there was a discrepancy in the DNA-determined probabilities that Schneider committed the crime.
One report claimed the odds of another black person committing the crime was one in 40 sextillion while jurors were told the odds were one in 43 sextillion.
A sextillion is defined as "a thousand raised to the seventh power" or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Schneider was murdered in 2005 for $40.
