DAILYKENN.com -- Zoa White, 69, was brutally raped and murdered with a claw hammer in 2010.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Friday to overturn the killer's conviction and subsequent death penalty.

Carlos Edward Kennedy was not allowed to represent himself as requested. That was grounds for the reversal.

According to AL.com:

Kennedy was convicted of attacking White inside her home. Police found blood with DNA matching Kennedy, along with a palm print and a fingerprint. Investigators also found seminal fluid during an autopsy of White, although it lacked sperm and, therefore, did not contain DNA. White had a successful real estate career before becoming active in politics. She volunteered on the gubernatorial campaign of Bob Riley and later joined his administration at the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

A state appeals court is overturning the capital murder conviction and death sentence of a man accused of killing a woman during a burglary in Mobile County.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals ruled Friday that a judge should have let Carlos Edward Kennedy represent himself during his trial in the 2010 slaying of Zoa White.

The judge initially let Kennedy act as his own lawyer but reversed himself before the case went to trial.

White was a real estate agent brutally murdered with a hammer inside her Spring Hill Avenue home.

  2. Letting a low-IQ negro represent himself is a guarantee of a conviction. If he got convicted with proper representation, what do the judges think would happen if he represented himself? Why do taxpayers have to spring to try him again so that he can claim he didn't know what he was doing and ask for yet another re-trial, which is likely to happen, probably at the federal level. This congoid will likely die of natural causes.
