A Jacksonville man was sentenced Friday to three back-to-back life sentences in connection to the 2013 armed robbery and murders of two brothers in a drug deal gone wrong, authorities said.
Avery Damon Wood Jr., 21, was convicted last month of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery in the shooting deaths of 24-year-old Andrew Bohannon and his 19-year-old brother, Matthew Bohannon, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Wood and three other suspects had agreed to meet the Bohannons at a Golden Corral on Normandy Boulevard in July 2013 to buy marijuana, prosecutors said.
Instead, two of Wood's co-defendants confronted the brothers when they arrived. Seconds later, both Bohannons were fatally shot in the head, authorities said.
