Francisco Sanchez was arrested for shooting Kathryn Steinle, a tourist who was visiting San Francisco. It was a random shooting, police say.
He had been deported to Mexico five times; the most recent was 2009.
• One of the changes stemming from Obama's 'hope and change' mantra was restricting the right of law enforcement to hold illegal aliens unless an active warrant exist for arrest. Had police been able to arrest Sanchez for being in the country illegally, he would not have been released April 15 of this year. Sanchez would be in jail or in Mexico and Steinle would still be alive.
• Note the mainstream Marxist media abandoned its usual rite of using tragedies to exploit its opposition to the Second Amendment. That is because San Francisco has rigid gun laws.
San Francisco’s gun laws require handguns be stored in a lockbox or secured with a trigger lock.
Sanchez obviously didn't care. When guns are outlawed, they say, only outlaws will use guns.

An attorney for the San Francisco Sheriff's Department says it had no authority to honor an immigration hold when it released a man who's now suspected in shooting death of a woman at a tourist site.
Freya Horne said Friday that federal detention orders are not a "legal basis" to hold someone, so Francisco Sanchez was released April 15. Horne says the city does not turn over people who are in the country illegally unless there's an active warrant for their arrest.
Officers arrested Sanchez shortly after Wednesday's seemingly random slaying of Kathryn Steinle at Pier 14 — one of the busiest attractions in the city.
