DAILYKENN.com -- The predatory left's cause célèbre is an incessant attack on the Confederate flag.

A few year ago the Confederate flag was respected as a benign symbol of Southern heritage.

It was not a symbol of racism when Jimmy Carter proudly posed beside it. It was not a symbol of racism in the 1980s when it was prominently featured in The Dukes of Hazzard television sitcom. It was not a symbol of racism when the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd featured it in its concerts and branding.

It didn't become a symbol of white racism until the predatory left began attacking it after the 1980s.

What changed?

The predatory left has never been focused on ending racism. Their intent is to exploit racism, real and imagined. Their focus on the Confederate flag is a hate-filled distraction from both the abundant blessing of living in America and from the true social ailments that plague us.

There are reasons why we should resist the hate.

1. Keep them occupied.

The rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd prominently featured the
Confederate flag for decades. What changed?
There will never come a point in time when the predatory left announces its satisfaction. It will never conclude that America has finally been purged of racism. Rather, it will always find some excuse to leverage racism to forward its agenda and false narrative.

One strategy to prevent the predatory left from moving to their next hate project is to keep it focused on the current cause célèbre. That is, every day the predatory left balks about the Confederate flag is a day their aren't attacking something else.

Let's keep them occupied.

2. Avoid cultural genocide.

The Confederate flag was a benign icon when
used in The Dukes Of Hazzard TV sitcom.
Raphael Lemkin, who coined the term 'genocide,' explained its meaning. He said, in effect, that genocide is not necessarily the slaughter of a people group. It is often the destruction of their culture, accomplished by stigmatizing and removing significant icons such as place names, statues of heroes of the past, and emblems such as flags.

By defending this cultural icon, we are defending our culture against the ravages of cultural genocide.

In context, here is the quote from Lemkin:

Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be the disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups.

 3. Defend the American flag

The American flag is already demonized by the predatory left as a symbol of racism. Once the Confederate flag has been displaced, the American flag will likely takes its place as the predatory left's iconic symbol of white racism.

Consider the attack on the Confederate flag as a test run for an attack on the American flag.

4. Fight ignorance

Even liberal Jimmy Carter proudly posed
beside the Confederate flag before the
predatory left convinced us it was
a symbol of white racism.
Most Americans have been misinformed. They are unaware that thousands of black Southerners fought for the Confederacy.

Few know the first black military officers in American history were Confederate officers.

Few are aware that black Confederate soldiers carried firearms while black Union soldiers were not allowed to carry firearms but were assigned to menial task. Frederick Douglas complained to this injustice to President Abraham Lincoln.

Few know that white Southerners were conscripted into military service while none of the thousands of black Confederate soldiers were conscripted. All were volunteers.

The Confederate flag honors the black men who defended the Confederacy. When we defend the flag we have the opportunity to school those fooled by the left about true American history.

5. Expose hate

The predatory left wants us to hate patriots
who defend their cultural icon.
[Attribution: The Washington Post]
The predatory left recently mocked the Confederate flag by comparing it to the Swastika flag of Hitler's Third Reich. This is quite literally a "false flag."

When we defend the Confederate flag we are opportune to expose such leftist hatred.

Note, for example, that multiculturalism never includes true Southern culture in its pantheon of inclusion. Rather, it discriminates against Southern culture via exclusion.

The predatory left's focus has never been on racism. Rather, its focus has been almost exclusively on white racism. You will almost never experience the predatory left criticizing anti-white racism or demonizing its symbols.

By defending the Confederate flag, we expose the hate of the predatory left.

6. Defend patriotic Americans

By degrading the Confederate flag as 'racist,' the predatory left provides an excuse to hate those who fly the flag. It falsely implicates these patriotic Americans as 'racists.'

The term 'racist' is hate speech. It's a pejorative. Its intent is to dehumanize those who are labeled with it. When the predatory left accuses a person of racism, it is granting permission for the accused to be hated, ostracized, and demonized.

The predatory left encourages us to hate patriotic Americans who respect the Confederate flag.

Need proof? Try hoisting a Confederate flag in your front yard then observe the visceral hatred.
