DAILYKENN.com -- Two arrests have been made for the March 11 attack of an 86-year-old woman.

Arrested are 33-year-old Lakisha Atkinson Boyd and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Eugene Williams.

Authorities say the couple broke into the Currituck County, NC home where the victim was struck in the forehead with a hammer before her purse was taken.

The crime was reported April 20, 2015.

The victim described her attacker as a tall, thin built black male wearing some type of hood covering his head and a black ski-mask. She said that after he took the purse and a small jewelry box, he fled out the back door.

The victim was transported to Sentara Albemarle Hospital and then flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.

Investigators discovered some of the stolen jewelry was sold at Gems and Gold, a kiosk at Southgate Mall, the same day as the reported crime. Latisha Boyd, who is related to the victim, owns Gems and Gold. The victim identified the jewelry as the pieces stolen during the break-in, according to police. The investigation then led deputies to arrest Eugene Williams, Boyd’s boyfriend, who was identified as the suspected intruder who assaulted the victim. The pair is also accused of attempting to use the victim’s stolen credit cards several times the day of the crime.
