A man stole a cash box containing “hundreds of dollars” in cookie sales from a Girl Scout Sunday in south Lansing, city police said. He remains at large.
A Lansing woman, 49, and her daughter, who has disabilities, were selling Girl Scout cookies near the entrance of the Kmart store on South Cedar Street when the theft occurred around 2 p.m., city police said in a news release. The woman said she briefly walked a few feet to her car when she noticed a man standing behind her daughter’s table.
The man grabbed the box and ran to his vehicle as the girl’s mother and others yelled at him to stop, the release said. Police were unable to find the man or the vehicle.
The man was described as black man in his late 20s; 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. He wore a dark blue or black jacket, red shirt, blue jeans and white shoes, the release said.
