A South Carolina principal cited a long-standing rule against drawing attention to oneself as an excuse to order students to remove flags from their vehicles on 9/11.
Principal Aaron Fulmer was supported by District 4 Superintendent Rallie Liston who feigned patriotism by citing the First Amendment's ban against discrimination.
“We all love America and support our country and our flag. We value our veterans, but we also understand that they fought for the First Amendment, and when we get into the First Amendment, we can't discriminate,” he said.
• Flawed exegesis
The First Amendment reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Sorry, Mr. Liston. I saw nothing in the First Amendment that even addresses discrimination. Furthermore, I fail to understand how flying an American flag constitutes discrimination. Then, again, I missed the part about displaying manger scenes and memorial crosses at deadly cash sites. I guess one must possess some special insight to detect such interpretations.
Liberalism's exegetical tampering with the Constitution is by design.
There appears to be an increasing trend among the nation's educators to wage war against American culture and to purge our minds of true patriotism. What they did to the Confederate flag, they are now doing to the American flag.
• Living document or lying liberals?
A primary weapon employed to that end is the uncanny ability of liberalism to abscond any word or phrase in the English language and redefine its original meaning to fit their agenda. The word liberalism, itself, is an example Original the term was applied to those who embrace personal liberty and oppose over-reaching government; the exact opposite of the current vernacular. True liberals took to calling themselves classical liberals or libertarians.
Other times liberalism simple invents new terms and phrases, called neologisms, to convey thoughts. The term racial microaggression is an example.
That is what liberals mean when they refer to the constitution as a living document: It means they can interpret its words at will to fit their agenda. Actually, they are merely lying.
My prediction is that, eventually, they will ban the flag on grounds of racism.
From our source we read:
Woodruff High School Principal Aaron Fulmer said he was simply enforcing long-standing district policy when he removed American flags from students' trucks on Thursday.Continue reading ►
Fulmer said he appreciates the students' patriotism and understands why they flew the flags on Sept. 11, when the nation remembered the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil. But, while he acknowledges complaints he's received, he said he cannot discriminate in enforcing policy.
The four students came to school on 9/11 with large American flags mounted on posts in their truck beds. Fulmer removed the flags from their trucks and returned them at the end of the school day.
He said the students were not punished or scolded. He said he told them: “I'm not mad at you. We're not upset at you. I applaud your patriotism.” But rules are rules, and Fulmer explained the district's policy to the students.
District 4 Superintendent Rallie Liston said the issue is not about the American flag. He said the students violated a rule against anything that creates a disturbance on campus or draws an “unusual amount of attention to oneself.” He said students can display the American flag on their vehicles, such as in the form of a sticker.
Liston said asking the students to remove the flags was not about 9/11 and patriotism — he said all District 4 schools flew American flags at half-staff in remembrance of the day. Liston stressed that the students were not disciplined. “We all love America and support our country and our flag. We value our veterans, but we also understand that they fought for the First Amendment, and when we get into the First Amendment, we can't discriminate,” Liston said.
Imagine what they're teaching our kids in the classroom!
