The former art teacher was found stabbed to death in his home Friday.
Police say they don't know the motive, even though his laptop computer had been stolen.
After the attack Knoop was able to reach his church by phone where a security guard took the call. He was found dead when authorities arrived.
Knoop lived in the Delmas section of Port-au-Prince.
The murder occurred Friday, May 16, 2014.
